The moment I got in touch with George at Harper Tait, it felt like I knew George for such a long time! Made me feel right at home. I went with my fiancee first to get an idea of what she liked but George guided us through all the choices and what to look for.

My now Fiancée had previously told me that she really liked rough, unpolished, ‘from ground to finger’ diamond engagement rings.

Just Perfect! Paul was recommended to us and we are so pleased he was. The whole process from arranging to meet with him through to the finished piece was so efficient. We met Paul in his studio, where he made us feel very welcome (champagne on arrival). Paul already had an idea of the style of ring we were looking for and had an extensive range of samples ready and waiting on display to be tried on. Nothing was too much trouble, we were given as much time as we needed and I eventually managed to make a decision on ‘the one’! Next onto the diamond….this is where Paul’s expertise as a gemologist really shone through. He was very thorough as he gave us an education in diamonds, ensuring we were able to get the best quality and size diamond out of our budget. Again Paul had a variety of suitable diamonds available for us to compare. We were able to look at each in detail under the magnifier ourselves too which was great. After lots of deliberation, and champagne we had found the perfect ring! The process for the ring to be made was very smooth. Paul was very easy to communicate with during this time, and he was also very flexible and efficient in arranging the collection when it was ready. The finished piece is simply stunning, and I honestly couldn’t be happier. I have already started telling people about Paul and Harper Tait and I will continue to do so. My partner will leave a separate review regarding his great experience when choosing my ring, but based on my own experience having the ring resized, I couldn’t be happier.
Paul was so welcoming and friendly, he sat me down and we tried on a few ring sizes. He then spoke me through the resizing and assured me this would be ready the following day. By 11:30am, my ring was ready for collection! When I picked up my ring, it was so clean and sparkly and fitted perfectly! Paul also allowed me to try on the matching wedding band which was great!

Bought both my engagement ring and wedding ring from Harper Tait - couldn't rate them more highly. The stones are exceptional quality and their aftercare has been brilliant - happy to clean the ring or recertify for insurance purposes etc at any time. Paul is always on hand to answer any questions and responds instantly to messages and I believe the clarity of the stones is far superior to others I've seen. Paul is a fantastically sincere, helpful and informative person. He was extremely flexible when it came to arranging meetings in order to design our bands and was hugely helpful when it came to working around my wives engagement band which was purchased elsewhere.

After a chat on the phone, Paul was able to put together a huge selection of bands and diamonds to suit my needs and sat with me for 2 hours in his lovely office teaching me everything I could possibly need to know about engagement rings before helping me make my choice. I truly couldn’t be happier I found Paul to design my engagement ring. Having always known I wanted to choose my own ring (ideally in Hatton Garden), it was important that we found someone who could work with us from start to finish, and create a bespoke design. Having asked for recommendations for a Hatton Garden jeweller on the Billericay Discussion Page, around 80% returned with a glowing recommendation for Paul. We can now see why!

Paul got in touch and we arranged to meet in his Hatton Garden studio. I took my mum along for the initial consultation as my fiancé was working. Paul was wonderfully friendly and personable and really took time to find out about our engagement. The bottle of Veuve Clicqout was very much enjoyed! He wanted to hear all about our engagement and was genuinely interested to find out about us as a couple.

I’d given Paul an idea of the shape of diamond I was keen on (a pear cut with several settings) along with a budget. He really did stick to our budget, which we really appreciated. Not once did he try to push us up to more than we’d have been comfortable paying.

He very kindly then visited us at home in Billericay so my fiancé could view the same diamonds/settings so we could come to a decision together.

The preparation and thought that Paul puts into every client meeting really is clear and he’s a lovely guy. Having visited a couple of other specialists in Hatton Garden, it really was a no brainer for us to go with Harper Tait.

We are absolutely delighted with the engagement ring. It’s stunning and exactly what I had in mind for many, many years. Without a doubt we’ll be returning to Paul to work on our wedding rings. We can’t wait and cannot thank him enough.

What an experience! I guess like most guys I was a little nervous about the daunting prospect of navigating my way to find the right stone and the right ring. However, after meeting Paul I quickly realised everything was going to be absolutely fine. We decided to purchase our wedding rings from Harper Tait after an appointment with Paul. The detail he went into and making us feel comfortable about what would work best based on our ideas were the deciding factors in choosing Harper Tait. We discovered Harper Tait via a friend’s recommendation and worked closely with Paul to create a custom engagement ring and custom wedding bands.

After several months of searching elsewhere, we had a clear idea of what we were looking for in an engagement ring but still had been unable to find it. Paul immediately understood what we were describing and through his wealth of experience and contacts was able to locate the design we wanted in time for our first meeting, and then commission a customisation that allowed for the shape of stone we wanted. Paul was incredibly patient while we determined the exact gem stone we wanted to buy: explaining options, searching listings and sourcing stones over a couple of weeks until we found ‘the one’.

Despite all of the above, the engagement ring was the easier of our commissions. We chose what we thought was a simple but custom, twisting design for wedding bands, which turned out to be more complex than we envisioned. Paul worked with us and the goldsmith to create several mock ups, which helped us refine the style and sizes before we commissioned the final products. Sharing information on the process and the different options throughout, he kept it enjoyable and we loved working with somebody as enthusiastic as we were.

We are delighted with the results and would recommend and return to Harper Tait for future jewellery needs, no matter how simple or complex they are.

We booked an appointment to see Paul yesterday (my fiancé had previously got my engagement ring from him). On arrival he was very friendly and welcoming. He offered us both a drink and seat and showed a genuine interest in our wedding plans. He then proceeded to talk us through each shape of ring and each metal, explaining in detail. We tried on different rings and when I showed him a photo of a wedding ring I had seen online, he even briefly left the office to walk to his supplier and get one so that I could try it on. Whilst there, I noticed my engagement ring (also from Harper Tait) needed a clean, Paul was quick to clean it and it came out so sparkly that it looked like it did when it was brand new! On top of that, he informed us about a wedding magazine and told us where to get it, he later text my fiancé and said that he would send one, free of charge, to our home address.
