We really loved the fact that Harper Tait provided CAD models of the ring which gave us an indication of what it would look like and myself and my fiancé absolutely loved it. His passion for and knowledge of jewellery was so captivating, and he has a brilliant personality - with the combination of these, he worked with us to configure an astonishing wedding band for my wife. The confidence and pride he had for the manufacture of the ring was also a standout point for us, and is reflected in their amazing aftercare services they provide.

Just Perfect! Paul was recommended to us and we are so pleased he was. The whole process from arranging to meet with him through to the finished piece was so efficient. We met Paul in his studio, where he made us feel very welcome (champagne on arrival). Paul already had an idea of the style of ring we were looking for and had an extensive range of samples ready and waiting on display to be tried on. Nothing was too much trouble, we were given as much time as we needed and I eventually managed to make a decision on ‘the one’! Next onto the diamond….this is where Paul’s expertise as a gemologist really shone through. He was very thorough as he gave us an education in diamonds, ensuring we were able to get the best quality and size diamond out of our budget. Again Paul had a variety of suitable diamonds available for us to compare. We were able to look at each in detail under the magnifier ourselves too which was great. After lots of deliberation, and champagne we had found the perfect ring! The process for the ring to be made was very smooth. Paul was very easy to communicate with during this time, and he was also very flexible and efficient in arranging the collection when it was ready. The finished piece is simply stunning, and I honestly couldn’t be happier. I have already started telling people about Paul and Harper Tait and I will continue to do so. My partner will leave a separate review regarding his great experience when choosing my ring, but based on my own experience having the ring resized, I couldn’t be happier.
Paul was so welcoming and friendly, he sat me down and we tried on a few ring sizes. He then spoke me through the resizing and assured me this would be ready the following day. By 11:30am, my ring was ready for collection! When I picked up my ring, it was so clean and sparkly and fitted perfectly! Paul also allowed me to try on the matching wedding band which was great!

I truly couldn’t be happier I found Paul to design my engagement ring. Having always known I wanted to choose my own ring (ideally in Hatton Garden), it was important that we found someone who could work with us from start to finish, and create a bespoke design. Having asked for recommendations for a Hatton Garden jeweller on the Billericay Discussion Page, around 80% returned with a glowing recommendation for Paul. We can now see why!

Paul got in touch and we arranged to meet in his Hatton Garden studio. I took my mum along for the initial consultation as my fiancé was working. Paul was wonderfully friendly and personable and really took time to find out about our engagement. The bottle of Veuve Clicqout was very much enjoyed! He wanted to hear all about our engagement and was genuinely interested to find out about us as a couple.

I’d given Paul an idea of the shape of diamond I was keen on (a pear cut with several settings) along with a budget. He really did stick to our budget, which we really appreciated. Not once did he try to push us up to more than we’d have been comfortable paying.

He very kindly then visited us at home in Billericay so my fiancé could view the same diamonds/settings so we could come to a decision together.

The preparation and thought that Paul puts into every client meeting really is clear and he’s a lovely guy. Having visited a couple of other specialists in Hatton Garden, it really was a no brainer for us to go with Harper Tait.

We are absolutely delighted with the engagement ring. It’s stunning and exactly what I had in mind for many, many years. Without a doubt we’ll be returning to Paul to work on our wedding rings. We can’t wait and cannot thank him enough.

We decided to purchase our wedding rings from Harper Tait after an appointment with Paul. We discovered Harper Tait via a friend’s recommendation and worked closely with Paul to create a custom engagement ring and custom wedding bands.

After several months of searching elsewhere, we had a clear idea of what we were looking for in an engagement ring but still had been unable to find it. Paul immediately understood what we were describing and through his wealth of experience and contacts was able to locate the design we wanted in time for our first meeting, and then commission a customisation that allowed for the shape of stone we wanted. Paul was incredibly patient while we determined the exact gem stone we wanted to buy: explaining options, searching listings and sourcing stones over a couple of weeks until we found ‘the one’.

Despite all of the above, the engagement ring was the easier of our commissions. We chose what we thought was a simple but custom, twisting design for wedding bands, which turned out to be more complex than we envisioned. Paul worked with us and the goldsmith to create several mock ups, which helped us refine the style and sizes before we commissioned the final products. Sharing information on the process and the different options throughout, he kept it enjoyable and we loved working with somebody as enthusiastic as we were.

We are delighted with the results and would recommend and return to Harper Tait for future jewellery needs, no matter how simple or complex they are.

We booked an appointment to see Paul yesterday (my fiancé had previously got my engagement ring from him). On arrival he was very friendly and welcoming. He offered us both a drink and seat and showed a genuine interest in our wedding plans. He then proceeded to talk us through each shape of ring and each metal, explaining in detail. We tried on different rings and when I showed him a photo of a wedding ring I had seen online, he even briefly left the office to walk to his supplier and get one so that I could try it on. Whilst there, I noticed my engagement ring (also from Harper Tait) needed a clean, Paul was quick to clean it and it came out so sparkly that it looked like it did when it was brand new! On top of that, he informed us about a wedding magazine and told us where to get it, he later text my fiancé and said that he would send one, free of charge, to our home address. The experience with Harper Tait could not have been more positive. Upon contacting Harper Tait after browsing their website, I spoke with Paul on a video call to explain what I was looking for, price range etc. After our chat, I met Paul and he went to great lengths, spending over an hour explaining in great detail the process of selecting the right diamond, through the 4 C's, lab versus natural and so on. He then presented many variations of diamonds to me along with different ring designs. The entire process felt so personal which was so important for someone that really wasn't quite sure about what I was looking for at the start. We narrowed it down to 3 items, and I went away to think about it over the course of a few days. At no point did I feel pressured to decide, and as Paul said, it s a big decision and to take all the time to think and consider my options.
If you are in the process of looking for a ring and don't know where to start, I would at least advise you start with Paul. Great experience. As a side note, when I was moving toward a .96 versus .9 carot diamond, Paul made the point that there is almost indistinguishable difference between both and not worth the price increase. Another example of the quality service provided. Ill be back for wedding bands at a later date for sure. Thanks for everything Paul and George.

We were looking for matching wedding rings and George gave us the best advice, support and expert opinion throughout the process. We had the luck of working with George for all three of our rings. From the very first consultation we felt completely at ease and knew that we were in good hands. The attention to detail and knowledge base that George provided was next to none. From the moment we got in touch with Paul, it was clear that he was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about his trade and getting the right diamond and ring for my fiancée. Paul carefully listened to our ‘wish list’ and understood what was important to us - his delivery of those needs was met and more.

I was looking to purchase an engagement ring and after my first meet with Paul I knew he was 100% the right person to buy from.

From having little knowledge, Paul went through everything I needed to know and gave me all the information I needed to buy the perfect ring.

He was never pushy for a sale and when designing the ring helped to choose the perfect diamond which even came in under budget!

Paul took me through a thorough breakdown of designing an engagement ring. During the initial meeting he made me feel relaxed and at ease. Each stage was broken down making it an informative process.

After agreeing to the design I was sent CAD images to approve before it was made. These images were great and true to how the ring has turned out.

On delivery of the ring Paul gave me options which I was able to pick as he was aware of time limitations.

The ring needed to be resized and the service Paul provided was quick and easy.

I couldn’t recommend him enough. Both myself and my partner are really happy.

Fantastic shop for jewellery! Their customer service is brilliant. I was messaging them on Whatsapp and they were always quick to reply, super friendly and so helpful. They helped me choose my engagement ring and diamond. When I ordered the ring, the diamond I ordered was not in stock. So, they gave me a more expensive diamond but honoured the original price. They also put in a special order for me to get it made quicker! Delivery was fast and the ring was very nicely packaged. Nothing bad to say about this company, they are amazing and I am so glad I chose them for my engagement ring! Cannot thank them enough:)

I am not really into Jewellery and so when I made the decision to propose I was lost on where to start - I think most men are in the same position.

I felt unsure about the whole process of buying a ring and what to look out for, but when I stumbled upon Harper Tait, and read the great reviews, I decided to go for it. I thought “what the hell, if I go and I don’t like the feel, I can just leave” and so I sent in an inquiry and set up an appointment.

From the moment I walked in I had Paul’s undivided attention. He patiently listened to my thoughts and what I envisioned for this special piece. He gave me a crash course on diamonds and what all the terms you see flying around online mean and what would be my best choice based on my budget. At no point did he try and push me to spend more and I even found that he would recommend a lower priced Dimond that would be better value for money.

I would describe the whole experience as reassuring and smooth - It was great to feel comfortable in a world that I had no knowledge of, and feel like I could trust Paul’s expertise and pricing.

I had my heart set on buying some diamond studs and wanted to go to Hatton Garden to buy them so that I had more choice, when I looked at the jewellers online I didn’t know where to start. My husband first visited Paul at Harper Tait Fine Jewellery back in 2011 when he chose my engagement ring. A one square 1.09 carat diamond (F clarity) mounted in a four claw platinum band.

Paul was recommended to us by a friend and I know my husband was over the moon with the time Paul took to explain all the different diamond shapes, cuts and qualities.

Paul was then a natural choice for our wedding rings and the same quality of time and effort was give to us as we chose these together. A platinum diamond set wedding band and palladium gents wedding band.

Finally for our ten year anniversary saw us return again to Harper Tait for a diamond and emerald stone set eternity ring. I absolutely love it. This was made even more special as Paul provided a super-speedy turnaround for my husband to surprise me on holiday.

From the first day I was made to feel comfortable choosing my Fiancé’s ring, discussed the diamonds in detail and I can truly say although I am not a diamond expert now I do know quite a lot about them.

Our experience was excellent throughout the consultation and production process, and the final product was perfect. They were able to find stones matching those in the original, and were available to complete the whole process in just a few weeks which was greatly appreciated.
