We did lots of research on jewellers in the Hatton Gardens area and Harper Tait had great reviews. We had no idea on engagement / wedding rings / diamond carats or bands and felt quite overwhelmed and nervous so it was a pleasure to meet Paul and the team at Harper Tait to guide us through the process. Paul put us at ease straight away, friendly, polite, super professional, hugely knowledgable all without being stuffy or judgemental, there was no hard sell / upselling or any pressure and we felt totally at ease. We were guided through every stage of the ring build from CAD to finished article and Paul even changed the spec at the very last part as he wasn't totally happy with the seating of the diamond, we were really happy about that.
We received the ring after about 10 weeks and it's absolutely beautiful, Paul delivered exactly what he promised and we are so so happy with the outcome.
Consequently we have now ordered our wedding bands as we have total faith in Harper Tait and cannot recommend them enough to anyone looking to take this journey.

I booked an appointment with Paul to get more information on engagement rings and his help and advice was 5-star. Very knowledge, he was able to educate me on the rings such as the 4Cs, made some great suggestions and even recommended me on diamonds.

The service is the best around, I came to get my engagement ring made here. He really helped my create a design that fiance loved. I didnt have any knowledge of diamonds or jewellery and paul took the time to talk me through it and create a really unique engagement ring.

After some window shopping in October 2023, we knew we were looking specifically for a radiant cut engagement ring but couldn't find a jeweller or design we were totally sold on, then we found Harper Tait online. We went to visit Paul who gave us so much of his time, and taught us so much with his expertise. He showed us SO many options for one cut. Nothing is too much effort with Harper Tait. The end result of our visits and emails (I sent a lot!) was a bespoke design, personalised to our requirements that fit our lifestyles, jobs and budget. I personally cannot rate Harper Tait, and specifically, George, who we dealt with throughout the process, highly enough.

I approached Harper Tait out of the blue with a very specific request for a quote; the team swiftly came back with a comprehensive quote that clearly broke down what we were paying for, and the gradings of the diamonds.

We swiftly agreed to meet George at Harper Tait's premises. I had no prior of experience of making such a purchase, and so came armed with various probing questions - George took the time to thoroughly answer each of them and put our minds at ease. For example,
George explained the end to end process of how Harper Tait source their diamonds and turn them into beautiful engagement rings, in such a way that means they are able to offer both the highest quality, while maintaining a competitive price point.

George was clearly someone who is highly experienced in their field, whilst apt to provide clients with exactly what they specify. Notably, we provided Harper Tait with just one stock picture of a rather niche style which we were after for the engagement ring, and we provided little in the way of further elaboration on details. Nonetheless, George took the time to understand our ask, and the end product is something much better than we could have ever hoped for - my fiancé is constantly stopped by others for the uniqueness and beauty of this very specific ring which Harper Tait brought to life - and against a very tight timeline at that!

All in all, George communicates without a fault - timely, clear, and willing to answer all questions honestly and comprehensively - whilst also clearly being highly capable at the trade itself.

I can’t recommend Harper Tait highly enough. From our very first appointment with George, the experience was unlike anything we’d had with other jewellers in Hatton Garden. So many places felt rushed and transactional almost like being processed through a factory, with strict appointment times and limited choice - ushered in and out with little time to explore or feel truly heard.

George, however, was the complete opposite. He took time to really listen, understand our ideas, and once my partner and I had a better idea of what we liked he guided me through possibilities I hadn’t even thought of. He patiently talked me through all the details of the diamonds – from carat weight and cut to ratios and quality – so that I knew exactly what to look for and what everything meant. It made the whole process feel easy, not overwhelming.

His attention to detail, patience, and creativity made the experience deeply personal and collaborative rather than pressured or routine. The result is the most beautiful, unique engagement ring that feels completely ours.

Working with Paul was a great experience. From the very first meeting he was welcoming, wasn't pushy in making a sale and was very helpful with the information he shared.
The ring I wanted to make was unusual with a ruby focus rather than a diamond and some more complex gold work. Other jewellers had turned me away for it being too complex or wanted to ship the design to China but Harper Tait were ready to work with me and make the ideas I had a reality.
There was no pressure on upselling, the ring came in far below the initial budget we discussed and it was because with Paul's guidance we found the right stones for the design that didn't break the budget.
The ring is incredible, finally seeing it after Paul's sketches and the CAD images was great. Ive received so many compliments from friends and fsmily, but most importantly the fiance loves it.
I am very happy that I went with Harper Tait and would definitely use their services again, we are planning to work with them on the wedding bands next.

We stumbled across Harper Tait place after reading that it was one of the most recommended spots in Hatton Garden. I wasn’t totally sure what to expect. You walk into this nondescript building, slightly unsure if you’re in the right place, and then suddenly you’re in this cosy little office.

George was calm, kind, and completely unhurried even though it was clear they had plenty going on. He made what could have been an overwhelming experience feel completely manageable. He talked us through everything, kept us in the loop at every stage, and genuinely seemed to care.

There’s something really comforting about feeling like someone knows exactly what they’re doing, especially when you’re buying something you’ve never bought before and (hopefully) never buy again.

We ended up going back for our wedding bands too. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.

As with a lot of others, I didn't know anything about rings or diamonds before searching. I found Paul (Harper Tait Fine Jewellery) from a google search as they were the highest rated ones I could find - and I am so glad I went with them. Paul is extremely knowledgeable and walked me through the whole process, my situation was slightly different as was moving abroad - he didn't rush me and force me into deciding. I had multiple in person visits, then he advised me not to purchase if I didn't fully like it, which turned out to be the best decision as he then sent me new diamonds that came onto the diamond exchange each month based on my criteria. Just Perfect! Paul was recommended to us and we are so pleased he was. The whole process from arranging to meet with him through to the finished piece was so efficient. We met Paul in his studio, where he made us feel very welcome (champagne on arrival). Paul already had an idea of the style of ring we were looking for and had an extensive range of samples ready and waiting on display to be tried on. Nothing was too much trouble, we were given as much time as we needed and I eventually managed to make a decision on ‘the one’! Next onto the diamond….this is where Paul’s expertise as a gemologist really shone through. Again Paul had a variety of suitable diamonds available for us to compare. We were able to look at each in detail under the magnifier ourselves too which was great. After lots of deliberation, and champagne we had found the perfect ring! The process for the ring to be made was very smooth. Paul was so welcoming and friendly, he sat me down and we tried on a few ring sizes. He then spoke me through the resizing and assured me this would be ready the following day. I truly couldn’t be happier I found Paul to design my engagement ring. Having always known I wanted to choose my own ring (ideally in Hatton Garden), it was important that we found someone who could work with us from start to finish, and create a bespoke design. Having asked for recommendations for a Hatton Garden jeweller on the Billericay Discussion Page, around 80% returned with a glowing recommendation for Paul. We can now see why!

Paul got in touch and we arranged to meet in his Hatton Garden studio. I took my mum along for the initial consultation as my fiancé was working. Paul was wonderfully friendly and personable and really took time to find out about our engagement. The bottle of Veuve Clicqout was very much enjoyed! He wanted to hear all about our engagement and was genuinely interested to find out about us as a couple.

I’d given Paul an idea of the shape of diamond I was keen on (a pear cut with several settings) along with a budget. He really did stick to our budget, which we really appreciated. Not once did he try to push us up to more than we’d have been comfortable paying.

He very kindly then visited us at home in Billericay so my fiancé could view the same diamonds/settings so we could come to a decision together.

The preparation and thought that Paul puts into every client meeting really is clear and he’s a lovely guy. Having visited a couple of other specialists in Hatton Garden, it really was a no brainer for us to go with Harper Tait.

We are absolutely delighted with the engagement ring. It’s stunning and exactly what I had in mind for many, many years. Without a doubt we’ll be returning to Paul to work on our wedding rings. We can’t wait and cannot thank him enough.

I would 100% recommend to all of my friends, Paul have fantastic service and advice, being readily available over email, phone or WhatsApp to answer any and all of my many questions. Sessions with Paul to research and design the ring were enjoyable and educational, with Paul evidently having a detailed knowledge of gemmology and being able to explain the finer details of what makes a great diamond.

Not knowing much about engagement rings beforehand, I found dealing with Paul excellent and very easy. He is extremely knowledge and followed through on everything that he promised. I felt like I was in safe hands. The ring required re-sizing, which was done same-day, painlessly and free of charge - all part of the service. We discovered Harper Tait via a friend’s recommendation and worked closely with Paul to create a custom engagement ring and custom wedding bands.

After several months of searching elsewhere, we had a clear idea of what we were looking for in an engagement ring but still had been unable to find it. Paul immediately understood what we were describing and through his wealth of experience and contacts was able to locate the design we wanted in time for our first meeting, and then commission a customisation that allowed for the shape of stone we wanted. Paul was incredibly patient while we determined the exact gem stone we wanted to buy: explaining options, searching listings and sourcing stones over a couple of weeks until we found ‘the one’.

Despite all of the above, the engagement ring was the easier of our commissions. We chose what we thought was a simple but custom, twisting design for wedding bands, which turned out to be more complex than we envisioned. Paul worked with us and the goldsmith to create several mock ups, which helped us refine the style and sizes before we commissioned the final products. Sharing information on the process and the different options throughout, he kept it enjoyable and we loved working with somebody as enthusiastic as we were.

We are delighted with the results and would recommend and return to Harper Tait for future jewellery needs, no matter how simple or complex they are.

My fiancé and I absolutely love our rings we got from Harper Tait. We both really enjoyed the whole process of buying our rings with Paul. From the first meeting with him he made us feel welcome, at ease and comfortable, through to the design process, collecting our wedding rings and cleaning my engagement ring so it looked new all over again. Paul let us try on so many different rings, and didn’t make us feel rushed. As my engagement ring is a twisted style, he then arranged for a wedding ring to be designed using a mould to fit my ring and it was perfect. I got my beautiful wedding ring from Harper Tait, and I'm delighted with it. Nothing was too much trouble, I asked for a smaller size and it fits perfectly beside my vintage engagement ring. Paul is lovely, friendly, and offered us drinks when we first went in and went through all the styles with us.
