Open Day at GIA in London

GIA in London invites you to attend Open Day to learn more about how to build a successful career in the world of gems and jewelry. Open Day takes place on Friday, September 8, with guests welcome to drop in and visit from 1:30 to 6 p.m. Pre-registration is recommended.

“If you are curious about gemology or the professions available in this field, we welcome you to come and meet our instructors, staff and students, ask questions and learn more,” says Mehdi Saadian, director of the London campus.

Open House is free of charge and attendees can participate in hands-on classroom demonstrations for computer-aided design for jewelry (CAD), gemology and jewelry design hand rendering.

Meet GIA faculty and students to hear what it is like to study at GIA and the positive impact it can have on your life and career. Admissions staff will answer questions about GIA’s world-class diploma program and courses and explain the application process.

1:30 p.m.

Door Open and GIA staff will be available to answer questions about GIA and GIA credential programs. Throughout the day, guests can attend the ‘What is Gemology?” lecture and participate in different activities.

2:00-3:00 p.m.

Jewelry Design hands-on session will allow guests to practice drawing a simple jewelry design sketch by hand.
Diamonds class hands-on session will teach guests separate simulant diamonds from natural diamonds.

3:00-4:00 p.m.

Computer-aided design (CAD) demonstration will give guests the opportunity to create a simple jewelry design using CAD software.
Colored gemstones hands-on session will give you a close look at a variety of different gemstones.

4:00-5:00 p.m.
