Becky Wootton, Head of Sustainability and Construction at Architecture for London
Becky Wootton is the Head of Sustainability and Construction at Architecture for London.
Becky find that the day to day aspect of work is different every day and can be unpredictable. Sometimes Becky is at her desk, writing emails, making phone calls, sometimes she is on site coordinating our build teams.
Becky first started working at September 2016. A friend had seen they were advertising and she was looking for a new challenge.
Becky believes that the key skill needed to work in her industry is patience, and a good head for numbers. Being able to communicate with people clearly, whether written, verbally or through sketches, drawings and images.
The best piece of advice that Becky would you give to women in her industry, or those wanting to get in her industry is that the Construction industry can be sexist, but it's getting better, things have changed in the 15 years since she started working in construction in London. You do see more women in construction and in a wider range of roles, so we all just need to keep trying to do what we can to move things forward and be seen.
