Hatton Garden Gateway Signage Consultation feedback

The Hatton Garden BID was delighted to share with our members our concept designs for gateway signage as you enter The Jewellery Quarter from Holborn.

The main focus regarding Public Realm investment is now on potential gateway signage into Hatton Garden from Holborn. A brief was developed for the design and feasibility of a new gateway sign for Hatton Garden at the junction of Holborn in collaboration with our steering group made up of local businesses. The main aim is to improve local area footfall capitalising on the Elizabeth Line walking routes and new nearby attractions due to open in 2026 – Museum of London and The London Tunnels (subject to planning permission). The council has been engaged to ensure the project aligns with the Holborn Vision Character Area for Hatton Garden, and the urban design team will be kept informed.

The steering group requested that the brief was issued to the original designers of the Greville Street totem, Maynard, to maximise the value of significant work done previously for Greville Street and to ensure there is some coherence between the gateway at Hatton Garden and the totem at Greville Street. The brief is extremely clear that any potential gateway signage for Holborn needs to be as impactful as possible, and that, if possible, any sign should be illuminated with LED lighting.

We are encouraging businesses to give final feedback on the concept designs by Tuesday 22nd April 2025. The concept designs can be found here.
