In May 2025, the BID hosted it’s first ‘Coffee with a Copper’ session at Colonna & Smalls on Leather Lane. The event offered a valuable opportunity for local businesses to engage directly with the SNT in an open and informal setting. Over the course of the afternoon, a wide range of local business owners and staff took the time to stop by, share concerns, and exchange information on emerging trends and challenges affecting the area.
Business representatives were able to raise specific issues impacting their operations, while officers shared advice and updates on recent initiatives and crime prevention strategies. This exchange of local intelligence was particularly useful in strengthening our collective response to anti-social behaviour, shoplifting, and other low-level crime.
More importantly, the event helped foster renewed trust between the community and the police. Feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing a desire for similar sessions in future. Coffee with a Copper has shown the value of strong community-police relationships in creating a safer, more connected local environment.
