Hatton Garden BID has a new Project Director: Debbie Akehurst

The Hatton Garden BID is pleased to welcome a new Project Director to the team this month. Debbie Akehurst has replaced Sarah Nelson and brings a wealth of experience in social and economic regeneration, built up over a 25 year career.

Working across the public, private and third sectors, Debbie has joined Primera at a crucial time for the BID, not least as we continue to face the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, but also with BID’s renewal ballot on the near horizon in 2021. Debbie’s experience of developing partnerships and bringing people and sectors together to deliver better outcomes will be invaluable to the businesses and stakeholders of Hatton Garden.

Creating social value and enhancing the communities she serves sits at the heart of Debbie’s approach and she specialises in working with businesses to help them develop strategies to support the communities in which they operate.

Debbie was recognised for the work she does in these areas by winning the National Outstanding Achievement Award at the inaugural Social Mobility Awards.

Speaking about her new role, Debbie said:

Hatton Garden is a fascinating, vibrant District in the capital and I can’t wait to start working with the businesses across the area. It’s an iconic location, with so much to offer, and so much potential. Already the BID has achieved a significant amount and I’m proud to be working alongside a great team as they continue their exciting work. Times are challenging at the moment so the BID is more important than ever - we are here to support our community, ready the area for recovery and look ahead to a brighter future. Let’s get to work!”
