Last week we had a brilliant turn out for our Deaf Awareness Training course with
Remark!
We learnt that for effective communication with Deaf/Hard of Hearing employees, you should try the following:
Use plain English (avoid jargon) and speak slowly and clearly,
Don't talk with your hand over your mouth or obstruct your mouth,
Be patient and never say 'Don't worry' or 'I'll tell you later'
Remark! are based on Leather Lane and offer lots of different types of training, including BSL courses, which include how to say basic work-related expressions.
